Odin's Spear: Revolutionising Telephony Management Odin's Spear emerged from a need to transform the way telephony engineers interact with Broadworks, a platform that had long been hampered by its outdated user interface and limitations.
Inspired by Odin from Rev.io, this Python library was developed to streamline and automate processes that were once painstakingly manual. Odin's Spear harnesses the power of Odin’s API to simplify telephony management, enabling rapid, large-scale operations and introducing much-needed features that enhance both efficiency and usability.
Its adoption by Fourteen IP has not only saved the company over £60,000 annually but also led to my role as team lead of a dedicated team of six developers to drive its continuous evolution.
Automation is more than a convenience; it's a catalyst for innovation. By removing repetitive tasks, we unlock the true potential of technology.
As Odin’s Spear evolved, it became more than just a solution for manual tasks; it grew into a comprehensive tool, bridging the gap between user needs and what the Odin API could deliver. By focusing on real-world challenges faced by telephony engineers, it introduced powerful features like visual call flow graphs, automated billing audits, and bulk management of telephony systems, all while maintaining a user-centric approach.
To explore more, you can find the project on GitHub, access the PyPi package, or dive into Odin's API documentation. To get the package, simply run this command:
pip install odins-spear
